Happy Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas!

I hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend of celebration with your family and friends.  It is a special weekend, so there isn't much homework for you to complete :)

2. Math review questions (page 44-46, questions 9,11,13,15,16) and study for Monday's chapter 1 final test
3. Practice spelling words and review your worksheets on verbs (action verbs, helping verbs, verb tenses) for Tuesday's monthly language arts test


I still need to see report card signatures for Humkirat, Jovan, Gurwarn, and Manmeet - please ask your parents to write "I have see ____ (your name)'s report card" with their signature.

Weekend Homework October 17-19, 2014

Here is your weekend homework:

1. Math 1.6 hardcover questions 3-6 are due on Monday
2. 20 minutes reading log each day
3. Finish the rough draft of your fan letter
4. You will need to do some work on your civilization project.  You will have 2 blocks on Tuesday to put some finishing touches on your presentation, and you will be presenting on Thursday.
***remember that your presentation needs to include:
a. a description of the society you have chosen
b. it needs to explain whether or not you think your society meets our criteria for a civilization by comparing it against the checklist we came up with
c. it needs to discuss the research you used (primary sources, secondary sources, archaeological evidence)

Homework October 15, 2014

Tonight's homework:

1. Math 1.6 softcover and begin hardcover questions 3,4,5,6 on pages 33-34 (we will have a work block for this tomorrow to finish up)
2. Civilization project research - we will have 2 work periods tomorrow, so be sure to come prepared with most of your research done.
3. Bring small, raw fruit and vegetable scraps to class tomorrow (bring them in Ziploc bags or containers please).  If you have committed to bringing a 2 litre pop bottle please make sure you bring that as well.

2. Begin researching your social studies civilization project (you need to come up with questions to research that will allow you to create a presentation that explains your chosen society, and helps you compare them to our checklist of features all civilizations should have).

- We have a spelling quiz every Tuesday - be sure to choose and practice your 5 words for this week
- On Thursday we will be creating the decomposer bottles you weren't able to create last week.  We need 3 more 2 litre plastic bottles, and everyone needs to bring a baggie of small, raw fruit and veggie scraps on Thursday.
- Your Self-Regulation report is due on Friday

Homework Wednesday, October 1st, 2014

Thank you so much for your participation in the Terry Fox run today!  You guys ran an astounding 82km as a class!

Tonight's homework:

1. Field trip preparation worksheet on archaeological hypotheses.  Follow the instructions on the worksheet and come prepared to discuss your findings tomorrow morning before our field trip.

2. 20 minutes reading

3. Study spelling words and French vocabulary for our quizzes on Tuesday and Wednesday

Remember to come on time and in full uniform for tomorrow's field trip to the Museum of Vancouver.  You need to pack a portable lunch, and you are allowed to bring sandals with you in case we eat lunch at the beach.
