Homework Thursday, December 19th

Hi Students,

This will be the last post for 2013!

I have handed out your homework packages for the Christmas Break, which will be your homework from now until school starts back up on January 6th...

The package consists of 5 parts:

1. Reading logs - you must read for at least 20 minutes, 5 times per week, for a total of 10 reading log entries over the break

2. Language Arts worksheets - there are 5 worksheets to help you sharpen your skills, and reinforce some of the topics we have covered in Language Arts so far

3. Math word problems - this is a set of 22 questions...none of the concepts are brand new to you, many of them build off of what you have learned in grade 6 to help you prepare for the FSA test

4. Mad Minute times tables practice - these are a set of times table practice sheets.  I would like you to time yourself as you complete them, and record how long it took you to answer all 100 questions...no calculators for this one!  Have a parent or an older brother/sister mark it for you so you know which ones you are having trouble with.  If the sheets are taking you more than 5 minutes, make flash cards to help yourself practice, or write out your times tables up to 12 for practice.

5. FSA Prep - this is a set of math and language arts questions from an old FSA test to help you see exactly what the test will be like and to get you to practice following FSA instructions.

All of these assignments need to be completed.  If you are unsure of how to complete a question or assignment phone a friend, Google it, ask a family member, or simply try to complete it the way you think you should.  It is ok to try your best and make a mistake, but it is not ok to give up.

****REMINDERS****
Tomorrow is our gingerbread house decorating competition and class party!  Remember to bring $4, some candies for the house, and any snacks you would like to bring to the party.

Have a very happy break, and a very Merry Christmas!!!

Ms. Reid
