Weekend homework, April 25th-27th
First off, allow me to thank you and congratulate you on a day of hard work and wonderful performances. Not only did Ms. Bal and I notice how much effort you put into making today's assembly a success, but other teachers commented on your manners and how helpful you were. I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
Homework:
1. 15 minutes reading everyday
2. finish the good copy of your geometric art - do not colour it, just draw the outline with all the proper tools (ruler, compass, protractor, triangles)
3. Groups who have not finished their hero play scripts need to do so this weekend. Get into contact with your group to make sure all of the parts of your play are written

1. The Giver journal entry for chapters 1-2
2. Rough sketch for your geometric art assignment (the sketch should cover the whole page and include at least 2 each of the following: parallel line pairs, perpendicular line pairs, perpendicular bisectors, angle bisectors)
Remember that tomorrow is the Guru Angad Dev assembly - invite your parents to join us from 10am-12pm and take part in langar afterwards. You may wear Punjabi clothes instead of your uniform.

Picture Day and Afterschool Movies!
Two very important reminders:
1. Monday, April 14th is picture day! All students need to be in full uniform including their blue blazer (if you have one)...bring your smiles!
2. We're having another after school movie event on Monday. Intermediate students will get admission to the movie "Epic" plus popcorn for only $3. The movies will run from 3:00pm-5:00pm and all proceeds will go towards the Grades 4-7 camping trip in June.

2. Ancient Greek wars article research. You and your partner should have divided up research in class today. For class tomorrow, you need to have researched the who, what, where, when, why, and outcome/effects of the war you were assigned (seen page 155 of your Social Studies textbook for details).
Remember to Google "for kids" after your search so that you find information that is written for you...example: instead of Googling "the Persian Wars", Google "the Persian Wars for kids"

Photo Essay Instructions
Here are the instructions for the photo essay assignment:
1. Your topic is Greek gods and goddesses, but you need to pick a specific theme (most powerful, children of Zeus, the story of Zeus coming to power, Hades' job in the Underworld)
2. You are creating your photo essay on Prezi using our classroom account (ms.reid29@gmail.com, gad2013)
3. The steps to create a photo essay are in your Literacy book with the snake on the cover (page 36)
4. You will need to choose at least 10 photos to tell your story - you should arrange the photos in an interesting and meaningful way (chronological order, most exciting, related events)
5. Each photo needs to have a caption that is at least 4 sentences in length. Captions should help tell your story and match both the picture and the theme of your photo essay.
6. The overall look and visual appeal of your photo essay will help your story as well. Your choice of colours, fonts, designs, etc. should match your theme and add to the appeal of your photo essay.
Be creative, express your vision or the story, have fun, and learn! :)
