Homework Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

Tonight's Homework:

1. You do not need to complete a reading log entry tonight because your other homework will take a while

2. We are having official FSA practice tests on Thursday and Friday.  Tonight you need to complete the online practice Grade 7 Reading test https://www.awinfosys.com/eassessment/fsa_sample.htm (enter Surrey as your school district and click on Grade 7 Reading).  While you are reading the questions, you have the option to view the story you are answering questions about on your screen at the same time - you should definitely do that so you can go back and review the story.

3. Your monthly math test/chapter 5 final test is tomorrow.  I have given you a sheet of practice questions to help you study.  I will not be collecting/marking these, but the best way to study math is to practice it.
For those of you who are sick today, here is a copy of the practice questions:

Reminders:

Pizza money is due tomorrow if you want to have pizza for lunch on Thursday

Weekend Homework and Upcoming Tests/Quizzes

Weekend Homework:

1. Reading log (at least 15 minutes per day).  Please read and log your reading everyday instead of reading for 1 hour and counting it as 4 days worth of reading.  Of course I encourage you to read more, but I need to see evidence of you reading every day.

2. Study/practice Math 5.1-5.3 for your adding fractions quiz on Monday

3. Science Lab report - please answer in complete sentences and paragraphs, taking care to add full scientific details and use the terms from your textbook reading.

4. H.A.C.E. survey (due Friday) - even though this is due Friday, I would strongly suggest getting it done this weekend as you will have other homework to do throughout the coming week.  You must ask 8 people (a mix of children and adults) the following questions and record their answers:

Question 1: Why do you think it is important to eat healthy?
Question 2: Why do you think people diet/go on diets?

Upcoming Tests/Quizzes:

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Grade 7's!

I hope you have had a fun and relaxing break so far!  This is a reminder to bring your homework package with you on Monday.  We will be spending quite a bit of our day going over it, marking it, and sharing it with one another.

Also, remember that I will be looking for age appropriate novels for silent reading starting Monday - no more Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Geronimo Stilton, or comic books.  This weekend would be a great time to hit the library and check out some new silent reading and reading log books.

Have a great weekend and I'll see you all on Monday!

- Ms. Reid
